Cynthia (Cindie) Brown discovered midwifery in 1984 when she first witnessed a calm, natural childbirth at home. The baby was over 12 pounds! Her interest in the medical realm then fused with her longing to promote healthy families, and she immediately knew midwifery was her calling. With this focus, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Washington in 1991, then her Master of Nursing from Oregon Health Sciences University in 1994. She also holds a degree in Systematic Linguistics.
"Cindie is calming, sensitive, and an empathic
listener. By the time our son was born, we felt it was
a friend who delivered our baby."

Cindie spent the initial five years of her career at a busy midwifery practice for Group Health Cooperative in Tacoma. She then joined the staff of Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, practicing at a local community health clinic. She has had many opportunities to work with families of various economic and cultural backgrounds. In 2001, Cindie established her solo practice in Seattle, where she enjoys applying her skills in a very personalized way.
Cindie is married to Steve, a high-school Spanish teacher and "renaissance man". They have three children, one of whom has special needs. All were birthed at home.
Cindie is grateful for the love of God expressed in the person of Jesus.
She continually experiences His kindness and healing, and she wants that same love to permeate all that she does.
